President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu appear ready for Israel to take over the area.
Hamas has reportedly agreed to the preliminary terms of a new ceasefire agreement with Israel. In the new agreement, mediators from Qatar and Egypt outlined a proposed 60-day ceasefire along with an exchange of Israeli hostages held by Hamas with Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
This may be the last chance for Hamas to avoid Israel’s intention of totally controlling the area. Despite Hamas’ acceptance of this proposal, messaging from both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump indicates that the two leaders support a takeover of the region over a ceasefire.
President Trump stated on social media earlier the same day, “We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed!!! The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be.”
